Slide Practice against Otter.ai.
Otter.ai produces a transcript and a meeting summary for you. Slide Practice produces a report for your client, in four named sections, that you check and send under your own name. The difference is who the output is for.
Slide Practice wrote this page, and we make one of the two products in it, so read it the way you would read any comparison written by a competitor and check the claims yourself. Everything said here about another product was read off that product's own public pages as of September 2026. No competitor's exact price appears anywhere on this site, because prices change and a stale number is worse than none.
01What each one is for
Two products, two jobs, stated plainly.
Slide Practice
A practitioner whose client is waiting for something readable after the session, rather than a host who wants to search what was said.
How it is priced A flat monthly price per practitioner, with two agency plans above it billed once for the whole team. The cost does not move with how many clients you have or how much audio you put through it.
Otter.ai
Anybody who needs an accurate transcript of a meeting, joined automatically to Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, searchable afterwards.
How it is priced A free tier with a monthly transcription minute cap, then paid plans billed per user per month with larger recording allowances, so the cost follows how much audio you put through it.
A transcript is a record of a meeting for the person who was in it. A session report is a document for the person who was not, or who was there and will have forgotten most of it by Thursday. Otter is excellent at the first and is not trying to do the second, which is why practitioners who use it still end up writing the client email by hand.
02Where Slide Practice wins
Three things Slide Practice does better.
- The output is for the client. Four named sections, the practitioner's own voice, sent under their name, rather than a summary written for whoever ran the call.
- It records what was agreed as commitments with dates, on a page the client keeps, which a transcript has no concept of.
- The price is per practitioner and flat, rather than following how many minutes of audio went through it in a busy month.
03Where Otter.ai wins
Three things Otter.ai does better.
- Transcription is its whole job and it is very good at it, across more meeting platforms than Slide Practice integrates with.
- There is a free tier with a real monthly allowance, which is more than Slide Practice offers anybody.
- Search across every meeting you have ever had is a genuine feature for somebody with a lot of them, and Slide Practice has nothing like it.
04Do not choose Slide Practice if
The cases where this product is the wrong answer.
Do not choose Slide Practice if what you want is a searchable archive of transcripts, a bot that joins every meeting you have, or the cheapest possible way to get words out of audio. Otter is better at all three.
05The short answer
If you only read one paragraph, read this one.
If you already have transcripts and are still writing the client facing summary yourself, that is the work Slide Practice removes. If nobody is waiting for a document at the end, a transcription tool is the right shape and the cheaper one.
